Should I Stay OR Should I Go?

21 August 2007
As many of you have noticed, I have not been blogging for a very long time and I have been wondering if it is worth it. I have moved on and I really feel like I do not need blogging to help me out in my life anymore. I am extremely happy and it has not gone away! I also do not know if my blog actually help anyone with problems (like I wanted) and if they allow others to gain insights from my experiences. I just do not know if I should keep on writing, but if people want me to stay and continue to write, I will.

I am asking you all your opinion. Should I stay or should I go? I would like emails, comments, or any other method to portray your thoughts and feelings to me. Have I helped you? Have I given you insights? Do you want to continue to hear from me?

Please let me know or else I will probably just stop writing without any of your input.

Good boy.

It would make me sad if you stopped blogging; but, I certainly understand if that is your decision.

The thing is, you may be helping more people than you realize. I know for my blog, there are only a small handful of people who comment; but, looking at the blogger statistics, I have people from all over the world checking out my blog. I can only conclude that there are a lot more lurkers than active participants in the Mormon Queerosphere.

Like, you, I wonder whether there is any value in continuing to blog. I, for the most part, have come out of my "angst" and into a better place. Is there any reason to blog beyond that in hoping my experience can help other "lurkers" out there?

Your voice is important in this fabric of intertwined experiences. Your voice is needed (just like in "Horton hears a Who" as I once blogged about).

Your voice has touched lives. Why would you stop touching?

People need to hear about the good stuff too. Sometimes I think the mohosphere is too full of depression and angst. It would be good to hear from people who are doing well. If only so that we know they're out there.

My advice is to do what's best for you. And you know yourself better than anyone else. But if it's not too much of a distraction and it's not hurting you in any way, then I think there are lots of positive externalities to your blogging, and it's worth keeping up. Even if you didn't post as much, it would help some people (and who knows, maybe it could help you at times, too). I've always said that it's better to have more voices in the MoHosphere so that we can all see different perspectives.

i think you should stay because it always helps to read about others experiences and thoughts who are dealing with similar issues. on the other hand if you feel like its not doing anything for you anymore maybe you should just do what you feel is best for yourself... like what brady said.

Gimple,
I've grown fond of your optimism, and regardless of your decision, I wish you the best in life and loving.

If you're ready to move on with your life without the crowd looking over your shoulder, and you don't want the continual blog distraction in your life, then you leave with our communal blessing.

We do gain strength from one another. Your voice is unique and inspirational. We don't always know how the Spirit moves us when we blurt out ideas into the blogosphere, but I have faith that what we say is important to others as well as ourselves.

So either option is worthy, and the choice to B or not to B is something only you can decide.

I certainly would enjoy it if you stayed :)

A friend asked for his link to be removed recently since he doesn't want to be pigeon-holed as gay, and since it is becoming so much less of an issue for him. This actually makes me really happy.

If that's how you feel, I say go. But stay in touch. :-)

Do what's healthy for you, but as you can see, we'd all like it if you would stay. :)
